If a kitten is at an indeterminate location under the bed, than he is potentially in all possible locations under the bed until either (a) he is observed to be in a specific location (until I poke my head under there to look) or (b) until he attacks the bathrobe tie dangled by the floor for the purpose of tempting him out from under the bed.

Except that he's gotten wise to that trick and doesn't go for the bait anymore.

Pros of working out at home vs. the gym:
No comparing myself to freakishly clean shaven women in the locker room.
No absurd competition for physioballs.
No feeling self-concious about working out with little teeny weights.
Can watch Firefly while lifting/stretching, crunching.
Feline company.

Cons of working out at home vs. the gym:
No checking out cute girls in the locker room.
No cardio.
No sauna.

The kitten is curled up on the comfy chair. I am sitting on the floor. It occurs to me that something is slightly backwards here.

I'm avoiding my email. No reason, just avoiding.

In the further exercise of avoiding my email while not actually turning the computer off, I'm just going to ramble.

I've been thinking of throwing myself a really big birthday party. I want to have people over and experiment ruthlessly with recipes. If I have enough people, I will have an excuse to make as many as three cakes. If they stay the night, I can make waffles.

The houseboys point out that I can always feed them cake. They've volunteered to clean up the test runs.

If I had ingredients for icing, I'd do cupcakes tonight. Sadly, we're short on that count. Also, given the recipes I've been working with lately, we're short about a pound of butter.

Cakes I'm thinking about (all from the Cake Bible, Rose Levy Beranbaum):
Triple Chocolate Cake (the one wrapped in praline sheets).
Strawberry Maria.
White Lilac Nostalgia (twee name, but it looks yummy).

Main dishes I'm considering:
Baked Salmon (recipe from the Barefoot Contessa recipe book).
Maple Glazed Pork Roast (from Cook's Illustrated, April '03).
Probably about six other things.

There are probably severe technical difficulties with some of that, but I have two months to think.

Thanks to our collective failure to grocery shop before the snowstorm, I am currently eating blue corn chips with garlic hummus.
