Pros of working out at home vs. the gym:
No comparing myself to freakishly clean shaven women in the locker room.
No absurd competition for physioballs.
No feeling self-concious about working out with little teeny weights.
Can watch Firefly while lifting/stretching, crunching.
Feline company.

Cons of working out at home vs. the gym:
No checking out cute girls in the locker room.
No cardio.
No sauna.

The kitten is curled up on the comfy chair. I am sitting on the floor. It occurs to me that something is slightly backwards here.

I'm avoiding my email. No reason, just avoiding.

having recently watched the episodes straight (now i can watch them in commentary mode sometime)... i came to several thoughts they didn't say, like: where in space is this set? do they have faster than light or is this ALL set in our solar system?

what's with the captain that the only women that interact with him directly as such, are Companions? hmmm

When the episodes aiared on tv, they had this awful spoken intro, where Book talked about "after the old earth was used up, we found a new solar system, with thousands of new earths..." This intro was awful, replete with logical problems, and ditched on the DVDs.

I think that they're dealing with multiple solar systems and faster than light travel, although they don't seem to have to deal with relativity.

And for your last question, I think it might be more accurate to wonder why there are so many Companions floating around this 'verse. The only women who don't actually seem to be are Zoe (married) and Kaylee (who would apparantly quite happily deal as a woman with all sorts of people, but probably doesn't get a shot at Mal because of his shipboard romance concerns).

yeah, now that you mention it, i remember those intros. i guess they were meant to cover up this glaring oversite of WHERE they are in space :> and how ...

seems like the government ships had a way of sneaking up on one... even though they were the size of moons. hmmmm...

and for long flights, they have freezers too, perhaps they just take the slow boat to china approach. speaking of which, they all seem to speak chinese. a lot. and it's not translated in the subs :P

hmmm, well, you know, companions do get around? or maybe they are equivalent of the Dune Sisterhood :> yes. that's it. they're all reverend mothers, Mal is the Quizatch'Hadderach (sp). and Kaylee. well. yeah. what about her. well, yeah :) yum :) well, aren't they all. heh. well, Kaylee WAS getting plenty before the doctor came along. apparently :>

It's not completely clear how much Kaylee was getting prior to the doctor's arrival, although there's certainly plenty of material in the series for Kaylee/Inara slashfic.

I hate the untranslated Chinese, especially as it appears on somewhat frequent occasion to contain actual plot points. If it was just the occasional expletive, I could deal, but they appear to have conversations.

hmmmm, well, she seems like a healthy backwater planet girl, and we met her in the throws of getting some, and she seemed quite to be holding her own... one imagines :)

I think the problem with Kaylee's lack of sex life is the ship.

There's Mal, who won't sleep with her because he's against shipboard romance, and hung up on Inara.

There's Inara, who's a pro and thinks Kaylee is adorable, but isn't having recreational sex.

Thare's Wash, who's married to Zoe, and Zoe, who's married to Wash, and neither will sleep with her on that basis.

There's Jayne, who Kaylee has apparantly pre-rejected her own self.

There's River, who's too crazy to have sex with, and Simon, who's too clueless.

The girl just needs some better material to work with.
