As a birthday gift, my parents gave me a device for displaying flowers. It's a kind of globe thing. It's hard to explain. It comes with a warning label: "To avoid risk of fire, keep out of direct sunlight."

I have occasionally commented that arson might be a decent solution to the structural problems in our house, but I wasn't *serious*.

There's a certain irony to making a flower display that can't be put in sunlight. Now I'm imagining the pure black Goth Vase: for dead flowers only.
