I've been home from the hospital since Sunday, I'm just, if it makes any sense, not really awake. I get up and talk and walk around and take showers, and so on, but my entire brain has clearly not clicked back in. Conversations are difficult and exhausting, and I can't carry a single train of thought for very long. I hear this should get better shortly.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow that might take me down a surgical drain, which would be nice. I'm less than fond of them.

Not surprised. Major surgery and all.

I hope you are healing well and your brain clicks back into place soon.

I'm on vacation this week and next, so let me know if you need anything...

Surgery can do that

Welcome home. Major bodily insults can have that kind of brain-fogging effect, even when inflicted medically.

I completely get what you mean about not being really awake. And if my experience is anything to go by, it should ease soon.

If you would like quietly sitting or multitrack- and discontinuity-enabled conversational company while that's still going on, or more focused conversational company when it eases, such availability as I have is at your disposal.

Best wishes getting through the fuzzy phase. Don't worry: you'll be going stir crazy before you know it.

*gentle hugs and love*

Indeed, surgery does take a bit to recover from. Hope you are getting good rest now to help your body and brain recover. *love*

My experience was fogginess, then brief moments of focus followed by a lot of fuzziness, with the moments of focus getting longer.

Getting the drains out totally started me on my way out of the fog.

As with everyone else, I am glad to see an update from you. Losing surgical drains is definitely a nice thing; they were quite an annoyance after J's surgery, 1.5 years ago. If you want distracting conversation, you could give me a call on my cell on Friday; you might be feeling more up to it by then, and I'll be driving (with kids and husband) something like 800 miles that day, so available for conversation for most of the day. Seven zero eight three zero seven two eight two zero.

It's good that you and your brain have made it as far as the keyboard. I remember the fogginess; it will lift; don't worry about it, you do still have a brain in there and it'll be back online soon. Hugs and all good wishes.
