Me: I can't find your brother! Where could he have gone? Who should we call first, the circus, or Navy Recruiting?
Hotspur, after serious thought: Navy Recwuiting.

(Later, unassociated)

Hotspur, picking up a book off my floor:
"I gone read your book!" (Pause to examine cover art.) "A long, long time ago, she lost her sandal on da floor. They lookin' and lookin' and lookin'."

She doesn't know how to write, but she writes what she knows.

Oh, good lord... Now I've got "In the Navy" stuck in my head.

I blame HotSpur.

I'm trying to imagine PG-rated cover art that would induce that description, and failing. (Likely, I am insufficiently imaginative at this hour of the morning.) But wow, that storyline is so quintessential toddler!

I love the thought of a 5yo who would run away to Navy Recruiting. It'd certainly result in a different variety of men ringing your doorbell to return him.

The book was a romance novel, but the cover art is very PG.

I believe that the classic film "Anchors Aweigh!" deals with that very plotline. Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra should be here shortly.

Rather than posting exactly the same thing myself, I'll just ring in with a "Me too!" (With the proviso that by and large, I love all of [livejournal.com profile] ricevermicelli's stories.)

A couple nights ago.

DL finished his shower and put the ducky towel on like a cape. He stood in front of me, totally naked with the duck part over his head, put his hands on his hips and said

"I am BATHMAN! GET IT ANDY? BATHman! Like batman but with an H. And there are duckies in the bath!"

"So, um, Mom. This night, Baby Panda Bear, um, accidentally fell. Out the window. Can you go find him?"
