I had to hit Target for clothes for Danger Lad! this morning, as he is outgrowing everything, and discovered that he has outgrown the infant/toddler boys' section nearly entirely, which is to say, everything plausibly DL! sized in the store was in the ordinary boys' section. Because it would be a travesty for more than the minimum retail footage to be given over to boring boys clothes, smack in the middle of the boys' section, is girls' underwear, aka training bras. So hey there, Target, way to smack a mama with things she was not prepared to contemplate.

Then again, Target has certainly produced a more useful product line than the one I had to deal with growing up. I recall feeling, about five minutes after I convinced my mom to buy me a bra, like I didn't understand why I'd bothered - I was just as exposed and unsupported as I'd been without one, and now I itched. Target's gone in for lining their bras, and the line offers parents the opportunity to strike a compromise between practical nude-colored training bras and fun things with rainbow-colored stars.

I would totally have bras with rainbow-colored stars if they came in my size.

H&M has bras with rainbow stars in your size. I can almost promise.

Whether they function as bras I can't say.

But they do carry them.

Don't know specifically about rainbow stars (and the patterns come and go) but Victoria's Secret makes lingerie in lots of bright colors and patterns and carries a large range of sizes. The web store has additional sizes that the physical stores don't carry, though I don't think your size is exotic. Check the cotton lingerie collection for examples that are fun and functional.

"Victoria's Secret ... carries a large range of sizes"

I didn't think that was true, so I just checked. I guess it depends on your definition of "large range of sizes": in a DDD cup they have two styles, one in a 36 only, the other in the odd choices of two different colors of leopard print. Nothing at all over a 40 band or DDD cup. The small end looks a bit better, bottoming out at 30A (10 styles, 6 of them padded) and 32AA (16 styles, 12 padded). A bit better than they were long ago when I acknowledged I could no longer shop there, but, well, I still can't.

Vicky's is especially bad at small band/large cup combinations. They've been trying to sell me on "sister sizes" for years, for which read: "charge me their ludicrous prices for garments that we both know don't fit."

It's true they don't have everything, though it's nice that at least the web store has more than the physical ones. And sadly, the sites that DO have just about every imaginable size (places like barenecessities.com and freshpair.com) often only have boring beige and black and a very limited selection, especially for the larger sizes. I was curious so I had a look on Bare Necessities; they will sell you a 56J bra but they have only one choice in that size. (All the 50+ band sizes are scarce.)

I watch for the sales so Vickie's prices aren't ludicrous. But ANY price for something that doesn't fit would be too high.

Obligatory pedantry
