Since I started work, I have had very nearly no free time at all, unless it comes out of my sleep. This week, because it's university move-in week, I am trying to avoid driving. We're parking the car by Daniel's office, and I'm taking the T in.
When I don't have to have even a single hand on the wheel, even the most rushed of my commutes feels suddenly, richly luxurious. I can knit, or read, while sitting, or standing, or hanging from a subway pole. There may be crying children, but they aren't mine. By the time I get home, I'm almost drunk on it.
