Over the past few days, I have been fielding calls from people who want to know if I'm still wanting visitors to enliven my bed rest. I haven't managed to call all of them back yet - it is, for some reason, a hard call to make. There's an explanation required. I'm not always up to explaining and I am definitely not up to explaining anything to anyone's voice mail. So if you are reading this, and you know me, and it happens to come up in conversation, please feel free to pass on the basic gist of the situation - you know, had the baby, NICU, etc. It's fine to refer people here too.

On a somewhat related point, the post with the baby's name is now f-locked, as part of our general policy of not having our kids' names be text-searchable on the intarwebs. We don't object to having her name passed on as part of conversation, but please do not repost. (We're working on getting a nickname to stick to her, but she's a slippery little bit and it's gonna take some time.)

Good luck dealing with people. I'm probably not really helpful in the casually passing on news department -- I suspect I just don't know enough of the applicable people -- but if you ever get to the point where you really need someone to get a clue and can't give it to them yourself, I'd be willing. 'Cause I totally get that sometimes, you just can't say it all again. (And given some of the phone calls I've made on behalf of friends in the past, this one'd be pretty easy.)

I was just gonna post something to this effect...

So please take it as written. :-)

(I think SLB and Ms.Hotspur both work.)

And make sure you've double checked with all the nurses on the NICU that they've had their (seasonal) flu shots already. The H1N1 shots/sprays are due out soon.

It's amazing how many health care professionals don't bother to get this year's shot because they didn't get sick last year and feel like they've had everything. If they've got pushy parents asking for it, that may help them along.
