I have a job interview on Thursday, for a job I would like to have.

I have nothing to wear. Last time I was this pregnant, it was December. I do still have some clothes, but it's 90 here today, and humid, and there's really no parking options near this office, so I'd like something in which I do not wilt, but under which I can wear a bra. This doesn't seem like too terribly tall an order, but I am not managing to figure out where these things can be acquired.

Seriously. So far as I can tell, the recession has taken out all maternity shops except for Motherhood (where I can find all the camo cargo capris my heart desires), and Pea in the Pod (who have a basic business model of taking all your money in return for a very small shirt). I am not a big fan of the notion that I could pay for overnight shipping and wind up with things I cannot wear. And when I think about running around town to hit department stores tomorrow, I'm tired already.

Whinge.

Target has a halfway decent maternity section. Mix and much from plus size areas and you might find something that works.

Which Target? The one by me has a bunch of sundresses and some velour tracksuits.

I wonder if the one in Woburn would be better. I wasn't looking at maternity when I went last week, but they tend to be more Tar-jay than Tar-ghetto.

it would be easy to wander into the Target by me for a look tomorrow since they're _right there_.

Ugh, I'm sorry I'm going to be no help at all. When I was pregnant I did wonder what the store managers thought that pregnant women should wear. I ended up ordering practically every scrap of clothing from Old Navy online.

I've never been in Isis/Wild Child- they're in Arlington Ctr., though.

Their website claims that they have now expanded beyond yoga wear, so worth a look.

They definitely have some real clothes, although the most formal of their stuff is usually in the "business casual" range.

What size?

I have some business stuff that might work.

Generally small, sometimes xs, sometimes medium.

One of the headaches here is going to be hemming pants.

LAUGH I wore XL and XXL when pregnant. I have nothing that is even a medium. I'm sorry.

Pair them camo cargo capris with that black stretchy tank top number and do one of those twisty bun things with your hair and you're SET.

Go get em, tiger.

Seconded--I remember this from when my friend Amy was pregnant (although that was two and a half years ago now, plus I'm not sure how businessy their stuff would be--but khakis at least could happen).

Do you have black pants, a black or a white tank, and something in a cardigan or jacket? Pair with appropriate shoes, put your hair up, and carry a briefcase. It will do. Don't put on the jacket or cardigan until you hit the air conditioning.

I don't have black pants.

I wore three pairs of them to death last time out, and cannot seem to find replacements (Liz Lange for Target has moved on to floaty sundresses). Me and tank tops are a bit of a hazardous combination - the breasts are no joke. They require support, which means I have to be covered pretty much to the collarbone.

The Belly Basics warm weather kit looks like it may have some good options - high-cut sleeveless shirt, skirt, slacks, dress. Isis Maternity is on their list of retailers. The price tag is a bit steep ($152). I think you would probably need a cardigan or jacket to make the ensemble look job-interview professional.

Pants or skirt and something in a lightweight top in any neutral? I see your point. Can any of the floaty sundresses be disguised as career wear if combined with a jacket of some sort? You don't want to invest in maternity career wear. You just want to convey the illusion of being in career wear. Possibly the question is what in heavens name are you wearing these days. Are you living in jeans? Not that I'm not or anything like that.

I have absolutely no advice on clothes, but best wishes on the interview! I hope it's a good fit on both sides.
