It came to my attention today that the sequel to Marjane Satrapi's "Persepolis" (unimaginatively titled "Persepolis 2") is out. If you haven't read "Persepolis", you should.

What is it about the book that makes you recommend it?

It's a realistic comic story of life in Iran under tyrannical rule, and the experience of an independently-minded woman growing up in said culture. Yay, Persepolis! :)

What [personal profile] chaiya said. This is also one of the few books about women's experiences in the Middle East that is neither by royalty nor by a Westerner.
