Five Questions

1. So, when did you know that your husband was the guy?
By the time of the incident that really made it clear, I had been harboring suspicions for a while.
We were wandering through Harvard Sq. on his birthday. It was supposed to be one errand and then lunch, but it morphed into an errand and another errand and a thing I remembered and some stuff I wanted to try on. By the time we got to lunch, I was kinda crabby, and feeling bad about being crabby what with the birthday thing. They gave us a table and as we sat down, I thanked him for being patient with me, and he took my hands and said "love, I will always have time for you."
FWIW, when you propose to someone in a restaurant, the waitstaff would *really* *love* to know how it turned out.
2. How are things going with your job these days?
They're going. I'd like a new one with a bigger company, but I have gotten inordinately expensive staying here.
3. Did you enjoy The Lord of the Rings better in movie form than you did the books?
No. I didn't make it through the first movie, didn't see the second, and spent the third coming to the conclusion that Cassandra Claire stopped doing the Very Secret Diaries because the source material practically parodied itself.
4. Do you miss Scripps?
Some and some. I miss the campus, and every February I go through a spate of thinking I was crazy to ever set foot outside of SoCal, but I was ready to leave when I finished.
5. Are you still playing hurley?
No. I got hesitant about injury, and that's death for a hurley player. I would play if I made it to SCA events, but I like the general feeling of having all my limbs intact. I took up kayaking instead, and I'm considering signing up for a bunch of West African dance classes as a warm up to getting back into Contact Improv.
Anyone else want some?

Earlier that week, in Los Angeles, I saw Molly Zenobia, who I've probably already recommended to you, and just missed seeing Ashley Maher and the Dresden Dolls. Ashley is based in LA and doesn't play out here often, unfortunately. And when she did come out here earlier this year, it was just with her guitar player, not her full afro-pop band.
Are you going to visit Southern California anytime soon? :)
2. In the past few days, I dove into Granny D's nascent but hopeful campaign. That's my priority this week. I'm going to try to get them as hooked up with the NH Deanies as I can, and help their organizers activate grassroots activity, before I leave the Boston area again. I also need to pick back up on some Verified Voting and Safe and Free ballot initative campaign stuff. I'm the MA state contact for verifiedvoting.org, and the ballot initiative was my idea to begin with.
I also have a bunch of other new ideas, and it's not clear which ones I'll get to work on. I'm definitely going back to some swing states before the election, though.
3. Tosci's, but perhaps mostly out of familiarity. That and I think their flavors remind me of Baitcon.
4. Hey, that's not a separate question! :)
5. Either Bush or Kerry :) More likely Kerry, and more likely with a pretty big victory, but only because a lot of us are going to try really hard. And Bush could still win, though if he does it'll more likely be narrow IMO. A lot of voters are going to decide who to vote for, or even whether to vote, at the last minute, and many of those people aren't even paying any attention to the campaign yet. I meet them while canvassing, and it makes me view polls with a lot of skepticism.
