Explaining Jokes

ricevermicelliI am getting nothing done at work today, so I might as well goof off but good.
I explained to someone this weekend, that I wasn't going to see The Passion on the grounds that rumor has James Caviezel picked up a 14 inch scar during the flogging scene (rumor fingers wrap as the culprit), and I find that unexcusable. I was mostly joking. In fact, I'm not going to see The Passion because I would rather eat my fingers than sit through three hours of anything about suffering. But the end result was a long email from this person, explaining how some people like to be hit and we can't judge them if they're okay with it.
Actually, I was protesting incompetent flogging.
Having explained that, I think I'm next going to have to explain all sorts of other things. It's been a long time since I watched anyone's head explode, and I have this suspicion that I am either hot on the trail of a closeted masochist, or about to watch brains spray all over the walls.
