Not only did I stay up late last night, contemplating the Mary Sue horror and rereading Harry Potter, I let the cat into my room, where he curled up on every available surface, purring and maniacally shedding allergens.

I'm not sure which of those is making me feel worse this morning, except that I'm sure that Harry Potter is out of the running.

Sorry if this has been said to often, but if you havent, I suggest getting a shedding blade (just looked up the name). They're really cheap, occur in pet stores, and are very effective for removing excess cat. Works good on my sofa too. And my cat loves it - if I say his name with the thing in my hand, he basically leaps into my lap. I sugest not trying to keep the cat still or pinned down while doing this. My cat moves around quite a lot (and excitedly), and pinning him down makes him much less happy. Short strokes.

Both cats think the comb is a petting tool. We only pin them to trim their nails.

And the kittenish cat really doesn't shed much - he's still sort of on his baby coat. It's just as allergenic up close. I kicked him out round five in the morning.

Shedding blades remove a lot more than any kind of brush/comb.
