If You Have Seen Or Touched Us Lately...

I am so sorry. We have scabies. This is not new - we have all been itchy for quite some time (since mid-September) and it has just taken the medical establishment this long to figure out the cause.

If you or your children have been itchy or rashy, please call your doctor and mention our situation. They assure me that scabies is "less contagious than lice," but there's a lot of room under that particular bar.

The good news is that we will cease to be vectors for parasites by tomorrow.

Gosh! On the one hand my legs *have* been itchy as hell. On the other hand they're always like that once the winter dryness hits. But I will go google symptoms now.

Oh, how annoying for you. No symptoms here, but I'll keep an eye out.

bwah! My college campus had an outbreak of scabies when I was there (probably this was around 96/97), and was that ever the center of conversation, LONG after the scabies were all gone. I managed to avoid them myself, but I really feel for you!

It was January '98, actually. I know because it was my roommate. She got it from some durf on her winter break school trip to Ecuador--the whole group got it. It sucked for her, but I never caught it, thankfully. It also led to some intense roommate bonding: "Rox. I need you to look at my ass and see if there's still a rash there, okay?"

Ick, I'm sorry.

But I totally know how "hard" it is to get lice; back when our kids were in daycare we got it twice! My wife is an expert in how to get rid of them (and Lindane isn't it).
