Mar. 21st, 2010 10:57 pmThe past week has been brutal. We just switched to daylight savings time, Danger Lad! has a minor cold, good daytime weather makes the house colder at night this time of year, and the constant interruptions to my sleep would (if exercised on prisoners of war) be banned by the Geneva Convention.
Tonight, I am getting creative with insulative strategies for Hotspur, and I expect to walk a mile between my room and Danger Lad!'s before dawn (I've done five laps since beginning this entry). Shortly after dawn, I can deposit them both in the care of paid professionals. Hallelujiah.
Yesterday, DL! celebrated his third birthday, running around in the backyard in his Batman shirt (because the front yard is off-limits to people not wearing trousers), shrieking with delight. Hotspur has been so charming that even when she's awake at two a.m, it's hard not to flirt with her. Three years ago yesterday, spring sunshine was streaming in through the window of my hospital room, and I had enough of a fever to think that my baby was so glorious that the only right name was "Daffodil."
I can be argued with about the naming choice (my husband was quite clear that he wouldn't stand for it), but I was right about my kids being glorious.
