Sky High Cakes claims that the Devil's Food cake recipe makes three 8-inch cake layers. This is wrong. Try nine inch.
The cake rose above the edges of my eight-inch pans and needed an extra 5-10 minutes of baking time. The layers in the back of the oven got overbaked, but did not fall. Icing this sucker sure is going to be interesting.
