So, in thinking about our holiday plans this year, we thought we'd like to throw a not-a-Christmas party, as we have sometimes done in the past. We thought we'd like to throw it sort of early, say, from around 2 to around 8 in the afternoon. We thought we'd like to do it at our own house, where we won't have to apologize to anyone when our child spills red wine on the rug. And we thought, also, that we'd invite you people. We're having a Not-A-Christmas Party!

To recap the salient details:
Who: La Famille Vermicelli (which includes [personal profile] danceboy, [profile] schr0dinger, and [profile] jesse_in_boston)
Where: The Sweatshop. Drop us a note if you need directions.
When: December 25, 2 - 8 p.m.
Why: Because we have it off work and everything's closed.
Agenda: Maybe some movies, maybe some games, definitely some food and good conversation. If you want to watch or play something specific, bringing it along improves the odds.
Terms and Conditions:
Children are most explicitly and enthusiastically welcome. The house is mostly toddler childproof. Unaccompanied children will be given espresso and a puppy.
RSVPs are not required, but do help us plan appropriately for food and drink.
Please give us a shout before bringing along anyone we've never met.
We have three cats, medicate accordingly.
No smoking in the house.
Psychodrama will be televised.

Laab Gai

Today, I am monstrously, unspeakably hungry. I took Danger Lad! for a walk this morning, and halfway back from the library, I was so starved that my knees were shaking, and I had to call ahead to have [personal profile] danceboy make us lunch. At this point in the walk, DL! not only wanted to be carried, but also wanted me to sing him the alphabet song over and over and over, and did I mention that we were going uphill? Not one of my easier workouts.

We have a ton of leftover turkey in the house, so we're really not buying more meat this week, but deep in Quick Recipes (brought to you by the editors of Cook's Illustrated), there is a recipe for Laab Gai. They call it "Thai Style Ground Chicken" because they're savages about language over there at CI, if not about food. This thing is calling to me. I tell you, as soon as we're out of turkey! Or possibly sooner, depending.
