When I picked Hotspur up at daycare today, I ran into one of the other moms from the crowd we knew back when we always dropped a child off at 7:30. We said hi, I asked after her son, she asked how Danger Lad! was, "And the baby - is she sleeping through the night yet?" I could not stop myself from laughing. Miss Hotspur Daffodil is an evening person. ALl the interesting stuff happens at night. Also, she is reverse cycled all the way to hell and gone. She and I will climb into bed in a little while, but if permitted, she'll nurse all night. If not, she'll wake up every forty-five minutes to nurse and try to make me flirt with her. I am very bad at refusing to flirt with her.
Her brother would also like to give up sleep entirely. Last month, he argued that (like the Flash), he sleeps "Fast, fast, fast!" That didn't work out particularly well for him, so tonight he is floating the notion that it's six thirty in the morning. He has been attempting to make this argument since 8:45. I have to say, though, that he is on to something. It is really hard not to make this conversation into a lesson in reading numbers or telling time.
