State of the Us

- I have conjunctivitis, bad. Am treating with antibiotics and hot compresses to eyes. It sucks.
- The Destroyer of Worlds was hospitalized yesterday, for acute kidney failure. He has been on IV fluids and is said to be recovering nicely. We are waiting the results of his bloodwork to determine whether he should be moved to Angell Memorial, or whether the more local animal hospital can keep him over the weekend. Aside from his kidney problems, he appears to have some partial GI obstructions, which will be investigated after his kidneys are stable.
- Danger Lad! has a cough, and is generally in high slime-production mode, although also in high spirits. He has figured out how to tune the tv to obnoxious kid cartoons. Yay?
- danceboy had conjunctivitis last week (starting Monday). He is mostly better.
- The adults in the house are minor wrecks about the cat, who we hope to visit later today.


I never knew that conjunctivitis could feel so much like a kick in the eye.

Updates

- The Destroyer of Worlds is at Angell Memorial, where they tell us that he is eating "little bits" (just about his normal eating pattern, from the sound of it - he has no attention span), and standing at the front of his cage to flirt. When we brought him in this afternoon, they said "cancer" a lot, but now they say it doesn't appear to be an issue. They've switched to terms like "chronic kidney problems" and "urinary tract infections." It seems likely that he'll be back home, back on his standard skittery beat (and antibiotics, and special kitty diets for feline renal patients), in a few days.
- Danger Lad! likes West Wing just about as well as obnoxious kid cartoons, and fishing around in the recycling bins better than anything on television. When he is older, we will have to break his heart and explain that there are, sadly, not nearly so many principled individuals involved in real politics.
- I hate antibiotic eye drops. Do you hear me? HATE. Hot, wet washcloths are the best things ever.
